Saxion University of Applied Sciences má bohatú históriu – jej korene siahajú až do roku 1875, pričom svoju súčasnú podobu získala v roku 1998 spojením dvoch vzdelávacích inštitúcií, čím sa stala jednou z najväčších vzdelávacích inštitúcií v Holandsku. Na univerzite momentálne študuje viac ako 26 000 študentov, z toho 3 500 zahraničných. Výučba prebieha na štyroch kampusoch na východe Holandska a to v mestách Deventer, Enschede, Apeldoorn a Hengelo. Tento región je známy svojou krásnou prírodou a pokojným tempom života. Keďže všetky mestá, v ktorých má Saxion kampusy, majú dobre vybudovanú infraštruktúru, do Amsterdamu, Rotterdamu, Utrechtu a Haagu sa dá dostať za menej ako hodinu a pol.
Saxion ponúka široké spektrum medzinárodných odborov - od krátkodobých kurzov až po úplné bakalárske a magisterské štúdium a každým rokom pribúdajú nové odbory vyučované v anglickom jazyku. Štúdium prebieha v medzinárodných skupinách, čím univerzita zabezpečuje ozajstnú multikultúrnu skúsenosť, kde študent môže porovnávať svoje skúsenosti a učiť sa od ostatných študentov, ktorí majú rozličné zázemie, kultúru a národnosť. Kvalita vzdelávania na Saxion University je kontrolovaná holandským ministerstvom vzdelávania, kultúry a takisto bola akreditovaná viacerými medzinárodnými orgánmi, čo zaručuje vysoký štandard programov.
Vzdelávanie na Saxion UAS je orientované na študentov a ponúka podporu nielen po akademickej stránke, ale aj čo sa týka osobnostného rozvoja. Počas štúdia majú študenti príležitosť nadobudnúť vedomosti ale aj zručnosti potrebné pre pokračovanie na zvolenej kariérnej ceste.
PODMIENKY PRIJATIA:
4- ročné bakalárske štúdium:
- maturita z angličtiny na úrovni B2 - známka 1 alebo 2,
- alebo certifikát IELTS 6.0, alebo ekvivalent
1 - 2-ročné štúdium pre študentov VŠ (top-up):
- ukončené 3 roky vzdelania na vysokej škole v príbuznom odbore,
- alebo ukončené bakalárske štúdium v príbuznom odbore

Denka Trnková, študentka odboru Hotel Management:
My name is Denisa but everyone calls me Denka. I am 21 years old and I come from Slovakia, Košice. Currently I am a second year student at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. I am studying Hotel Management in Apeldoorn. In my opinion, choosing a right study program is already a big challenge not mentioning if you wish to study abroad. After a very long research I made a final decision to start my Bachelor study at Saxion. I packed my suitcase and moved to another country to start a new adventure. The beginning was tough and challenging but also exciting and enriching. I have become an independent woman following my dreams and wishes. I really love to study at Saxion and to live in the Netherlands.
To begin with why I love to study in the Netherlands, the level of education is very high and different from the Slovak one. Lecturers are our friends and examples. They do not try to push us down but instead they support us and advise us how to improve and how to be successful. We are free to say loud our opinion and we receive feedback everywhere. We make friends from all over the world, get to know new cultures and we are able to learn new languages. We get more opportunities to travel abroad even though we already are. We have a chance to do the internships twice during our studies or simple do an exchange program. It is up to us how involved we would like to be in Saxion. For example, in my first year I have become the class representative. In my second year I have become the student ambassador as well as the mentor student. I had the opportunity to organize the study field trip. I love to challenge myself and enhance my skills and this all is possible for everyone. I really like the fact that together with theoretical and practical skills we get also a better insight into multiculturalism which will help us to better understand people but most important we will leave this school with enough experience to already start our dream career.
With regards to living, the way of living is different from how we are used to it in Slovakia. Everything seems to work very fast in here, everyone is able to speak English and people are very friendly. Trains are modern and fast. You will buy a bicycle which will take you everywhere you want. You will learn to love a Dutch way of eating, such as sandwich for breakfast and lunch but your dinners will be always cooked. My advice, socialize and socialize. When you move out from your country you can feel alone sometimes but do not forget that you are not the only one. Make friends, download skype and enjoy the best experience and adventure of your life. I do not regret a second of my time here and If I could I would make the same decision over and over.
